Microblading

The procedure

Appointments are 2-3 hours where we discuss your dream brows. I then map out and measure an outline of your new eyebrows using your facial features. Once you have approved the outline, I apply a numbing cream for 25 minutes. When ready to begin, I wipe the numbing cream off and use a disposable handheld tool to make hair-like stroke that follow your natural brows. Throughout the procedure, I apply more numbing cream to make sure you are comfortable to entire time.

At first they will look dark and scabs will form. It is very important you DO NOT pick the scabs as this will affect the outcome. Once the scabs naturally fall off (which may take longer than two weeks), your brows will look lighter. This is normal as a new layer of skin has formed over them. After about six weeks, the true pigment will show. This is when you come in for the included touch up appointment to add density as needed. Your fresh brows can last anywhere from 1-2 years. Touch-ups are recommended to keep them looking their freshest.

Preparing for your appointment

Please be aware:

  • Do NOT drink alcohol or caffeine before the procedure (at least 24 hrs for alcohol) as this will cause more bleeding
  • Do NOT take advil or other blood thinners such a Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen unless medically necessary, 48-72 hrs prior to your procedure. Extra strength Tylenol can be taken if you have low pain tolerance but consult your physician.
  • If you have recently tanned this will affect the outcome of the healed colour.
  • If you’ve had laser removal of previous work done by someone else, the treated area will have more scar tissue and can affect the outcome of the result.  More treatments may be necessary to have the skin take the colour.
  • Botox should be done 2 months before or 3 weeks after the procedure.
  • Avoid using Retinol-A products 3 weeks prior to your appointment and 3 weeks after.
  • Avoid exercising the day of procedure as this will open up the pores.
  • Please note that you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.
  • No waxing, threading or tinting 3 days before and at least 3 weeks after.
  • Must be off Accutane for 12 months before microblading appointment.

Post care

  • After your appointment, I will apply a layer of Vaseline which you will leave on for the remainder of the day. Before bed, you can wipe off the Vaseline completely as no scabs have formed yet. Do NOT apply any product to the area. For the next 10 days, you will need to dab the area with a damp paper towel 3 times a day. Do NOT wipe as this will pull the scabs off early.
  • Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bolder in colour and more sharply defined. Over the next 2 days, it will appear even darker and thicker as scabs begin to form. You must let the scabs naturally flake off. It will take up to 14 days for scabbing to be over. Do NOT pick the scabs. This can create an undesired look.
  • Do NOT wear makeup or apply product to the area for 2 weeks.
  • When washing your face, use a wash cloth instead of splashing water on your face to avoid removing any scabs too early.
  • Do NOT sweat heavily as the salts in sweat will pull out pigment.
  • Avoid Botox and Retinol-A for 3 weeks to allow area to heal.
  • Avoid sleeping on your side to prevent from rubbing your fresh eyebrows on your pillow throughout the night.
  • Do not let running water hit your face in the shower to prevent any scabs from coming off too early.
